I don’t know if you can relate, but at times sharing your ongoing spiritual journey online can come with a feeling of pressure: to say it right, do it right, feel it right etc., all while embodying the perfect goddess archetype.
Well, my week has been about as far from the above as you can get. While continuing to recover from an operation, as well as a cold, I have spent the weekend re-watching a rousing K-drama, drinking indulgent hot chocolates, reaching for loo roll because I’m sans a fancy tissue box and staring at my hoover in an effort to will myself into tackling some much needed housework (note: it did get done in the end).
It’s been rich in the mundane and the monotonous and poor in the meditative and mysterious. But there was one standout moment. While supping on my aforementioned hot beverage of choice at my local chain coffee shop, I spotted a glamorous older lady heading my way and couldn’t help but remark on her chic sense of style. She was soon joined by her husband, and what ensued was one of the most satisfying interactions I’ve had in ages. We talked life, love, health, religion, career shifts (he’d gone from PHD biochemist to pro golfer to Anglican priest!!) and the merits of being true to ourselves vs staying in lane.
They remarked that I was still young enough to really go after what I want without fear of holding back and I told them of my fears of being trapped as a cog in the proverbial corporate wheel. No conclusions were reached, or avenues to freedom identified, but it was still such a beautiful thing to indulge in what I’ll call a kindred conversation at such a strange juncture in my life.
Reflecting, I’m wondering if the combination of being ‘not at my best’, combined with a desire to connect is really what the essence of being Onerable is about. Opening ourselves and our energy as much as we can manage at any given moment and allowing the Universe to deliver something unexpected in return.
