Crickets – that’s what it can feel like when you’re putting your ear up to the Universe waiting for a shoulder tingle, change in temperature or anything that represents a ‘reply’ and… NOTHING.

The above is exactly why I value those moments when spiritual signals pop into our mind and hearts – seemingly from nowhere – and deliver a juicy download that can:

  • Set us on a new path
  • Hard rethink our current circumstances
  • Have us dusting off our yoga mats and adding a few new crystals to our wellness altar

These aren’t subtle nudges of the kind that make you opt for one of two similar holiday destinations without a detailed rationale or the flutter in your tummy that tells you something is off with a person, place or situation. Rather, they’re out-of-the-blue revelations that leave you speechless and maybe a teeny bit shaken. They’re clear, crisp and ‘loud’ in a way that has nothing to do with auditory sensations and everything to do with the truth of the download sweeping its way through all seven of your chakras.

One such moment for me came when I realised I had spent a disproportionate part of my life investing in friendships, forgetting to put myself centre and everything in concentric circles around that. Addressing this was a daunting, and at times, bewildering process. Friendships that had consumed too much of my emotional energy were scaled back and Elizabeth Day’s Friendaholic was duly loaned from the library and gobbled up with my mouth slightly ajar the whole time. I’m still navigating the ‘fallout’ from all of this and some friends have found it jarring that I’m no longer a bottomless well of empathy and that my excitement for girly meet ups hovered at around 1.5 on a 0-10 scale at one time.

What happens next? I’ll let the next juicy download from the Universe be my guide.
